Day 1, Week 1, Phase 1

Published by admin at 7:29 pm under Phase 1, Weigh-in

The day has arrived. There is no turning back and I have now made a commitment to regain my health and lose my body fat. I started the day with a weigh-in and taking my measurements. There were a few surprises.

My weight was no surprise as I have hovered around 14 stone for the last few years. Although I was 14 stone and 1 pound earlier in the week, I weighed in at 13 stone and 11 pounds today. I have lost 4 pounds in a few days simply by cutting out my junk food. I anticipated this and can now use my new starting weight as a better comparison week to week. I will only weigh myself and take measurements once per week.

What has surprised me is that my body fat is 35%. I think that I must have been kidding myself for a long time as I didn’t realise I was quite that fat. After seeing my first daily photograph I can see now that I am a lot more overweight than I first thought.

I am yet to formulate a meal plan but I will not be counting calories on this phase. I will be eating 5 small meals per day and will estimate around 300 to 400 calories per meal. Some of these meals will be juices and smoothies and some will be solid food. The main thing I will do is use feedback to determine my next steps. After taking my measurements each week I will determine if I need to eat more or less and exercise more or less.

Today I have spent 15 minutes on the cross trainer fitness programme at level 1.

I have also completed a single set complete body workout on the bowflex.

Here are my statistics for day 1:

  • I am 5′ 6.5″ tall
  • Weight: 13 st. 11 lbs. (193 lbs.)
  • Waist at navel: 42″
  • Waist at belt: 40″
  • Chest: 43:
  • Body fat: 34.9%
