Day 8

Published by admin at 7:48 pm under Phase 1, Weigh-in

It is Sunday morning which means measurement day. I really wanted to see at least a little progress in the first week, and a little progress is what I got.

First thing before eating or drinking I measured my weight. I measured in at 13 stone and 8 1/2 pounds. That is a weekly weight loss of 2.5 pounds. I can’t be sure if that is all fat or if there is some muscle loss but I am happy that my overall weight is headed in the right direction. If you remember I took my weight about 12 days ago and weighed in at 14 stones and 1 pound but I didn’t use this figure for my  ’weekly’ measurement point as I would have had a ridiculously inaccurate first week weight loss figure.

I took some body measurements but I am finding it difficult to get accurate readings on my skin fold pinches as the fat seems to be too thick to grab. For example I am getting a measurement of 52mm for my abdominal fat measurement. For this reason I will only calculate my bodyfat on a 6 week basis until my fat is thin enough to take consistent ‘pinches’.

My waist and chest measurements were the same and I didn’t expect a lot of movement in one week but I do expect to see some change by the end of week 4 (day 29).

I spent 15 minutes on the cross trainer on the interval programme at level 1.

After that I went for a ride on my motorcycle with my friend Brian and we stopped of at a cafe where we would normally have a cup of tea. I chose to have a banana and blueberry smoothie instead.

Reflecting on my eating over the last week I am very pleased. Nicola and I have eaten a 70% raw food diet consisting of fruit drinks and smoothies, salads and fresh vegetable juice with meals and no snacks. We have allowed ourselves one ‘free’ meal a day, normally lunch, to allow for difficulty in obtaining raw food while out. I have had an egg baguette and chicken tikka with rice for example.

This evening I have performed my four abdominal exercises for 14 reps each.

I think that visually I can start to see a little bit of difference after the first week. I still have a very long way to go.

Day 8

At the front I can see a slight reduction in the swelling of my abdomen about half way between the navel and my chest.

And at the back I am still looking to see a reduction in those ‘love handles’. No change yet.
