Day 11
I had to be woken up by the alarm this morning and even felt the need to hit snooze a couple of times. However, after that I realised I needed to get up and get going. I felt a little ‘stiff’ and ‘heavy’ as I got out of bed. I promptly went downstairs and did 15 minutes on the cross trainer at level 1 on the hill programme.
I have definitely got the ‘day after’ DOMS and my muscles are reassuringly aching after moving to 2 sets per exercise in my resistance exercise yesterday. The pain is mostly in my chest and torso and isn’t too bad but is noticeable if I try to tense my muscles. It has got easier as the day has gone on.
After getting home from work I had an hours sleep before I had a stir-fry for my tea.
I have been thinking about whether to cycle or not. At the beginning of September is the ‘End to End’ mountain bike race which is a gruelling 40 mile ride from one end of the island to the other over a demanding hilly off-road course. I entered last year having done no training and managed to make it half way in about 4 hours. I was exhausted and don’t think I have ever cycled for 4 hours non-stop. If I enter this year I want to make it to the finish. My main concern will be if I have enough energy to put some long training sessions in. I guess I would need to do a 3 to 4 hour cycle every week to build up the endurance and while I am still finding my way with my eating plan don’t want to over exert myself. On the other hand the exercise may help the fat burning process.
Ab training today moving to 15 reps per exercise. Three sets on the abs and one for the back.
