Day 16
Today is a public holiday in the Isle of Man. It is called Tynwald Day and it celebrates over 1000 years of continuous government. It is the oldest and longest running government in the world.
We had a late night last night trying to get Abbie to go to bed after playing Indiana Jones Lego on the Wii with her Mum. So, this morning we had a bit of a lie in, even though my body clock still woke me up quite early.
First thing, I spent 15 minutes on the cross trainer on the interval programme at level 2. As I feel a bit fitter I thought I may try some level 2 programmes this week.
We spent the day tidying, pottering about and doing a little work in the garden. The weather has been very wet over the last week so it isn’t that pleasant working in the garden at the moment. We are growing our own fruit and vegetables and have the following on the go:
- Raspberries
- Blackberries
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Courgettes (Zucchini)
- Tomatoes (3 types)
- Cucumbers
- Peppers
- Chilli peppers
- Melons
- Lettuce (many varieties)
- Potatoes
- Kohl Rabbi
- Cabbages
- Turnips
- Parsnips
- Peas
- Beans
- Sweetcorn
- Onions
- Garlic
- Jerusalem Artichokes
- Broccoli
- Radishes
- Goji Berries (small plants)
- Sweet Potatoes (small plants)
The only problem is that all the plants fruit within a few summer months so we get lots of fruit and vegetables over the summer then nothing for the rest of the year.
I have noticed that after resistance training on the Bowflex I seem to be pretty much useless for the rest of the day. My muscles are weak and I am usually tired and lethargic. As an experiment I am going to adjust my training time to as late in the day as possible to minimise the impact training has on my normal day to day activity.
This evening I started training at 7:45pm finishing at 8:45pm. I am tired and am glad that I have only a couple of hours until I should be asleep.
Back to work again tomorrow.
