Day 24
The effects of all the training have shown their signs this morning. After a couple of ‘snoozes’ on the alarm clock I managed to drag myself out of bed but it was a real battle. My whole body felt fatigued. It wasn’t sore, just heavy and fatigued. This was one of those days that without the blog and without a plan I would have just stayed in bed.
I managed to go down to the cross trainer and spent 15 minutes on the interval programme at level 1. The odd thing about today was that my legs were so heavy. The first 5 minutes of the cross trainer was just so ‘flat’. I didn’t have any energy and I felt as if I may not make it to the end. After 5 minutes and a bit of blood flow to the rest of the body things started to ease off a bit and by the end I felt reasonably refreshed and ready for the day. The one odd thing that made my smile was that when the interval mode kicked in and the trainer jumps from level 1 to level 3 (for a short period of time) I couldn’t tell the difference. Level 1 was so difficult with the extra resistance of my legs that the extra resistance of level 3 was negligible.
It was sports day this afternoon at school. It is good to see many of the students taking part in the sporting events.
When I got home for work I took the mountain bike out for a ride. I didn’t go on any planned route but just had a ride around for about 75 minutes. This is my last preparatory ride before Thursday. I will use the rowing machine and do my resistance training tomorrow and will not do any early morning exercise on Thursday morning due to the demands of the ride later that day.
